Although this stop could be just a few miles away from your home, it is the perfect spot for kicking off your road trip! Maybe you’ve been here before and maybe you haven’t. A trip to the aquarium is perfect nonetheless because you can always anticipate learning something new! The aquatic life here ranges all the way from spooky to cute. Don’t forget to step out on the sky deck while you’re here! There is an awesome view of Duluth’s iconic lift bridge! If you want to get a closer look, the museum is within walking distance of downtown Duluth. Make sure you make your best fishy face for family pics!

Wisconsin Point in Superior, WI
If the kids got a water bug at the aquarium, then this stop will be just what they need next! Wisconsin Point is one of the largest freshwater sandbars in the WORLD! It has 2 ¾ miles of beach stretching across into the distance for kids to dig their toes into the sand. You’ll also immediately spot the Superior entry lighthouse once you arrive. Before you and the kids start running towards it, be very cautious because the rocky pathway leading up to the lighthouse is quite challenging to step across. If you do decide to check out the lighthouse up close, make sure everyone is wearing sturdy shoes and young kids stay close to mom and dad. Once you’re ready to leave, give a wave goodbye to Lake Superior!

Adventures Restaurant & Pub in Rice Lake, WI
At this point in the trip, you all must have worked up some sort of appetite! Adventures Restaurant & Pub in Rice Lake is almost at the halfway point of your road trip making it an ideal time to stop and fuel up for the family’s future adventures. Once you enter, it will feel like you’re at a cabin in northern Wisconsin! The boats hanging on the wall and the stone fireplace standing in the middle of the restaurant with board games on the ledge help achieve that lodge-like vibe. The food here is like the cherry on top of the cake; it ties it all together! The fan-favorite here is their Yankee BBQ Ribs!

Irvine Park & Zoo in Chippewa Falls, WI
Just one more stop before you’ve finally made it to Eau Claire! But, don’t worry; you’re very close! At this stop, the kids will get to learn more about land animals. They may even get a chance to see some animals they have never seen before! It’s also a great stop to just stretch the legs and to get some playground time. If you ever return to Chippewa Falls in the winter, they have a magical Christmas Village display at Irvine Park that brings in visitors from all over to take in the wonder of all of the lights and holiday magic!
