What Summer Jam is Really Like

A big backyard BBQ... with a full festival stage

From the moment you arrive, Summer Jam feels less like a massive, overwhelming festival and more like one big backyard BBQ. Except with a high-quality stage production. Lawn chairs come out, blankets hit the grass, and people settle in with a drink as the music starts to build.

Laid-back, come-as-you-are energy

The crowd vibe is what makes it. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and easy to jump into. You don’t need a perfectly planned outfit or a strict schedule—just show up, find your spot, and enjoy the music.

From sunshine to late-night sets

Afternoons are all about soaking up the summer sun and easing into the day, with music building as the crowd settles in. And if the weather cooperates, you'll catch a stunning sunset as a stage backdrop.

When the stars come out, the sounds get bigger and the energy peaks as headliners take the stage. And when the final song ends, the party is just getting started. The energy heads back to the campgrounds where the late-night hangouts keep the weekend going.

Where to Stay & Getting Around Summer Jam

Not a camper? No problem. Whether you’re all about convenience or want to experience Eau Claire outside the festival grounds, lodging and transportation are made easy.

If your ideal setup includes air conditioning and a quick ride in, Sleep Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, and SpringHill Suites are just minutes from the grounds. Or if you're looking for a classic downtown experience, stay at The Lismore or Oxbow Hotel. You’ll be within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, and late-night spots—perfect for before and after the festival.

And the best part – all of these stops are along the festival's shuttle route, so you can skip the parking and stress and get to the music with ease.

Things to Do Before & After the Festival

Fuel up before the festival

Start your day with a solid breakfast (you’ll thank yourself later). Local favorites Fella’s Loaded Goat, Chick-A-Dee’s Family Restaurant, and The Nucleus are go-to spots where brunch is basically a sport. Or if you're looking for something close to the grounds, Wheaton Family Restaurant at Sleep Inn & Suites has a wide menu selection and something for everyone.

Quick coffee run

Need a caffeine boost before heading in? Swing by local favorite coffee shops like ECDC, Phoenix Coffee, Racy D'Lenes Coffee Lounge, or The Goat Coffee House.

Be sure to explore before you leave

If you’ve got a little time to spare, explore beyond the festival grounds. Wander through downtown, pop into local shops, or take a walk through the Eau Claire Sculpture Tour for an easy, artsy stroll.

Looking to stretch your legs? The Chippewa River State Trail offers scenic river views and a quick reset before heading out.
