- Time: 8:00 AM to 5:00 AM
HEARTLAND HOSPICE mission is to provide exceptional care with empathy for our patients and their families so they may live with dignity and respect as they face a life-limiting illness. A comprehensive plan of care is directed by the patient and carried out by our hospice team. Trained volunteers are a critical part of the team.
A volunteer can provide supportive presence to clients and their families by:
• Companionship and Socialization
• Talking or reading a book.
• Watching TV or Listening to music.
• Helping write letters and cards.
• Playing cards or games, do puzzles.
• Offering short-term respite visits to provide relief for family/caregivers.
A volunteer can provide essential office support to the hospice team by:
• Sorting and filing documents.
• Preparing and distributing mail
• Compiling patient/educational information
A volunteer cannot:
• Provide transportation
•Do transfers or lifts (bed to chair/chair to bed, etc.)
• Provide personal care (bathing/toileting/dressing changes, etc.)
• Do any feeding of meals
• Administer medications
HOURS AND DAYS ARE FLEXIBLE. BASED ON VOLUNTEER PERSONAL SCHEDULE
