It’s National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day! What does that mean? We don’t care! When a quasi-holiday declared by unverified internet sources gives us an excuse to enjoy this savory, cheesy, yummy American classic, the only question we ask is “where are we eating?”.
If you’re self-conscious about ordering from the kids’ menu, here are four downtown restaurants that feature the sandwich as options for the big kids. Nom Nom everyone!
Chickadees, 1928 3rd St
This grilled cheese is straightforward, classic goodness, and exactly what you’d expect from downtown’s favorite greasy spoon diner. Served with fries and a salad.
Reboot Social, 220 S Barstow St
Reboot’s Grilled Cheese features a mix of four cheeses: mozzarella, aged cheddar, Monterey jack, and muenster cheese served on a toasted sourdough bun with a side of fries. Treat yo-self and go for sweet potato or truffle fries for a couple bucks more.
Court N House, 113 W. Grand Ave
This West Grand District favorite might be more well-known for their burgers, but give their grilled cheese a try! Made with a mix of American and cheddar cheese on white. Get absolutely crazy and add some ham – although maybe wait for Hot Ham and Cheese day, that’s a holiday, right?
The District Pub and Grill, 101 Graham Ave
Is a bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches technically a grilled cheese? We say yes! The Grilled Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger is the mad-scientist’s version of a grilled cheese and we’re here for it.
