“Life’s a party. Dress for it.” The famous quote from Audrey Hepburn sums up Audrey’s Boudoir, a Downtown Eau Claire shop that pays homage to the iconic actress. At Audrey’s, you’ll find your outfit, and some super cute host/hostess gifts to help liven up the party.
The gift shop and clothing boutique located at 305 Main St is a mix of vintage, classic, and fun. You’ll find higher-end accessories from Givenchy and Kate Spade alongside gifts inspired by present-day pop culture. The store also offers a range of clothing and clothing accessories – including warm and fuzzy knit mittens, gloves and hats, scarves and wraps, purses, and bags; even some ‘mancessories’.
“There really aren’t a lot of clothing retailers in Eau Claire in general, and it’s even more difficult to find plus-size women’s clothing options here,” says owner Nicole Chetwood on her decision to start selling plus-size apparel from her shop. “I saw a need there, and I’m hoping Audrey’s can help fill that gap.”
Audrey’s began as an online and pop-up business in 2019, with Nicole selling from her Facebook group and a makeshift shop in her dining room in the East Hill neighborhood, then a converted guest room – or boudoir, if you will.
She then found a small retail space downtown to host occasional pop-ups. These pop ups grew in frequency until she made the decision to quit her regular 9-5 and make Audrey’s her full-time gig. She opened with regular business hours in November, 2021 at her current location.
The business has expanded to a full-fledged online store in addition to her downtown location, and Nicole continues to hone in on what interests her growing customer base.
“One of the products that I and a lot of my customers are excited about is our offering of Rude Cosmetics,” she says. “It’s a vegan makeup line, basically a dupe of Tart Makeup, but much more affordable.” The store offers a wide range of cosmetics for all skin tones.
Following feedback from customers, Audrey’s Boudoir has also become a vendor for Pop Sockets phone accessories and Pipsticks – a popular line of decorative and themed stickers.
You can shop Audrey’s for the holidays in-person from 11 am to 5 pm, Thursdays – Saturdays, or online any time. The shop offers shipping, in-store pick up, gift cards, and deals for VIP members. Sales and specials are announced on their social media and website.
