Eau Claire, Wis. (December 13, 2021) - Visit Eau Claire recently collected regional room tax numbers for the 3rd quarter of 2021.
The City of Eau Claire began the 1st quarter of 2021 down 10 percent but made up ground in the 2nd and 3rd quarters by beating 2019’s numbers. In the 3rd quarter, Eau Claire surpassed its 2019 numbers by a staggering 16.3 percent. As of October, Eau Claire has beaten 2019’s month versus month numbers five months in a row with a 6th month missed by about a thousand dollars.

Altoona, Osseo, and Town of Union are also regional partners with Visit Eau Claire. City of Altoona tourism spending was up 16% in third quarter. In the Town of Union, room tax numbers show that they are down only one percent compared to 2019, but they are up 27 percent in the 3rd quarter alone. In Osseo, room tax was up almost 50 percent in the 3rd quarter.

“The Chippewa Valley has shown a tremendous ability to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic and the interest in traveling to the region has never been greater,” said Executive Director Benny Anderson. “2019 was a record year for most of the cities in the area, so the fact that our numbers this year are beating that benchmark is incredible news.”
