River Prairie is a mixed-use development in Altoona, Wisconsin. We are currently home to a number of businesses with several more planning to open in the upcoming months. The recently opened River Prairie Park is, perhaps, the most unique and exciting park in the Chippewa Valley. Located along the banks of the Eau Claire River, the park highlights the site's natural attributes as a primary draw to visitors and residents and offers something for everyone. The newly opened River Prairie Center, located adjacent to River Prairie Park, is available for a variety of community events, from running races to car shows to concerts to food festivals.
When Altoona City Officials were considering names for this piece of ground, they didn't have to look far. The name River Prairie originates from the housing development, The Estates at River Prairie. This housing development was an early catalyst for what has become a multiple-quadrant development along Highway 53.
Located conveniently at the River Prairie Drive - Exit 89 of Highway 53, River Prairie is easy to access. Click here to get to River Prairie.
On-street parking in River Prairie is back-in only. There is also public off-street parking that has standard pull-in parking stalls. Please pay attention to signage within River Prairie, which will indicate parking regulations.
River Prairie will be home to a wide array of shows and events. We expect to hold a community concert series as well as national concert events.
As of December 2017, Cowboy Jack’s is the first restaurant to open in River Prairie. Za51 is scheduled to open in the Winter of 2017/2018. Additional restaurants will be announced on social media, so remember to follow us!
