Giving Chippewa Valley residents a chance to get OutdoorMore!

Pinenhurst Park is a year-round outdoor recreation destination for Chippewa Valley residents of all ages. Construction and renovations began at the former ski hill in 2013 and are still in progress to expand this park and make it better than ever.  

Facilities Available: Progressive Mountain Bike Gravity Park and Dirt Jumps, Disc Golf, Playground, Hockey Rink, General Skating Rink, Sledding Hill, Hiking Ski & Snowboard Terrain Park Area, and Lighted Cross Country Ski Trails. During the winter months, a gear-share program is operated out of the warming house by Wintermission Eau Claire. Park users can check-out sleds, snowshoes, and Kubb sets free of charge.

Mission:

Our mission (OutdoorMore, Inc.) is to work in partnership with the city of Eau Claire’s Parks and Recreation Department to rebuild and reinvent the former ski hill located at Pinehurst Neighborhood Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. With major focus on the mountain bike experience, we are also creating a winter environment for everyone. We strive to create a valuable community asset where any resident of the Chippewa Valley can have fun and stay active all year long through a variety of outdoor recreational activities.

Pinehurst Park provides free access to trails, slopes, and disc golf for our visitors. Happening Now - Winter Facility Development - Phase II (2020 - 2025)

Fall 2020 marked the beginning of Phase 2 of Winter Facility Development. This next phase of development is geared towards prepping the hill and re-opening as a small lift-served ski area. Our lift is not yet operational, but that could be changing soon. Phase 2 improvements include the following:

  • Lift Installation (Concrete anchors, electric hook-up, loading/unloading stations, lift operator booths, etc.)

  • Hill Preparations

    • Continued dirt work (grading the lift line, tubing lanes, cat track, midway unload station, etc.)

    • Expanded light coverage on ski hill and tubing hill for night operations

    • Hill cleanup (remove stumps, rocks, debris from hill)

  • Ski Area Facility Needs

    • Fencing/Padding

    • Purchasing tubes

    • Ski/Snowboard racks

    • Picnic tables

    • Equipment storage

    • Ski Patrol

With our mission to help people #GetOutdoorMore, the winter experience has always been a big focus. Winter sports like skiing and snowboarding often require some traveling and higher costs to get started. At OutdoorMore, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience sliding downhill through the snow, which is why we love getting the next generation of snowboarders started right here on our home hill! With the coming lift installation, we can’t help but smile thinking about all the people we will be able to introduce to these sports right in their own backyard. We see a future where we can offer expanded ski/snowboard lessons programming, rental equipment, tubing fun, school trips, and riding the terrain park under the lights.
