Altoona, Wisconsin

The City of Altoona is right around the corner from Eau Claire, east on Highway 12.  In addition to natural beauty and small town hospitality, Altoona is well known for its focus on outdoor recreation!  This community is bustling with avid fishers on the lake and bikers hitting the trails to enjoy the fresh air!  Altoona is a wonderful community which provides many amenities to visitors and locals of all interests with its close proximity to the culture of Eau Claire and the beauty and serenity of a small town.  Altoona has also been named one of the top five fastest growing city in Wisconsin per the U.S. Census Bureau - a great place to call home!  As one of our local communities, Altoona offers many area attractions, events, and activities for any visitor to enjoy while in the Eau Claire area.

Originally founded as East Eau Claire in 1880, Altoona became a main division point on the railroad between St. Paul and Elroy, WI. Currently, it's Eau Claire's closest neighbor to the east and is quickly becoming a progressive residential community with a growing retail and entertainment district. Miles of paved trails wind their way along Lake Altoona and the Eau Claire River, making Altoona a great place to raise a family and an even better place to visit.
