Eau Claire Walking & Driving Tours Self-Guided Audio Tours

Downtown Eau Claire Historical Walking Tour

In its early years, Eau Claire was a young, energetic, up-and-coming lumber town, built around the rivers that brought millions of logs to this vibrant city.  On this historical walking tour, you’ll learn about the people that founded Eau Claire, our steamboat history, and our great run during the logging era.

The logs couldn’t last forever, unfortunately, and you will hear how Eau Claire transitioned to the manufacturing, entertainment, and cultural center of northwestern Wisconsin. We will cover a few of the companies that grew up in Eau Claire and the products they sold throughout the region, the United States, and even the world.

Not only do you hear interesting stories, but as you walk along the tour route, you will see pictures of what Eau Claire looked like over 100 years ago!
