Downtown Eau Claire Historical Walking Tour
In its early years, Eau Claire was a young, energetic, up-and-coming lumber town, built around the rivers that brought millions of logs to this vibrant city. On this historical walking tour, you’ll learn about the people that founded Eau Claire, our steamboat history, and our great run during the logging era.
The logs couldn’t last forever, unfortunately, and you will hear how Eau Claire transitioned to the manufacturing, entertainment, and cultural center of northwestern Wisconsin. We will cover a few of the companies that grew up in Eau Claire and the products they sold throughout the region, the United States, and even the world.
This tour is going to involve some time travel as we take you back to Eau Claire in the 1800s then fast-forward you to the year 1930. Hang on! It’s going to be quite the ride!
As an added bonus, they have partnered with some great vendors along the route that will give you some nice discounts on food, drinks, shopping, and even ice cream. Check them out on Facebook as they will have Tuesdays Tidbits, a slice of Eau Claire history or history in general, and Flashback Friday, with post about stories happening in Eau Claire during the current week before the year 1930.
