United States National Kubb Championships
Eau Claire has been named the Kubb Capital of North America! Kubb is a Nordic inspired chess-like lawn game that has made its mark here. No need to wait until the lawn appears either as you can see Kubb enthusiasts playing in the snow too! While traveling around Eau Claire you’ll see groups of folks enjoying the game!
This is the place to be for year round outdoor recreation! The park features biking and hiking trails as well as a huge hill for sledding, tubing, snowboarding, and skiing in the winter months! If you get chilly in the snow just stop on by the bonfire that glows every day during the chilly season.
Area Bike Trails
Eau Claire boasts over 25 miles of bike trails through beautiful scenery and along our rivers. Rent a single or tandem bicycle downtown at Riverside Bike & Skate and hit the trails like Old Abe State Trail or the Chippewa River State Trail to discover the true beauty of the Chippewa Valley.
Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the ice is so delightful! In Eau Claire we celebrate all seasons and the cold weather brings with it winter recreational activities! Catch a UW-Eau Claire Blugold hockey game or join in on open ice-skating at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Eau Claire County Expo Center features curling where you can watch the local club or take a lesson and try it out for yourself!
