The Mabel Tainter has brought cultural excellence to the Chippewa Valley since it was commissioned in 1889 by Andrew & Bertha Tainter to honor their daughter Mabel, who passed away in 1886 at the age of 19.The facility is listed on the National Register of Historic Theaters and is a Wisconsin Historic Marker destination. The Mabel Tainter presents a diverse year-round season of music, theater, dance, and comedy in its Victorian-era “jewel box” theater; supports local and regional performing artists, offers visual arts exhibitions and the beloved annual Fine Arts & Crafts Fair. Tours are available throughout the year and by special appointment. Conveniently located off I-94 just 30 minutes from Eau Claire, The Mabel Tainter is well worth a visit.
