Author Tom Culbert, a native of Eau Claire, discusses the story of Pan American Airways PAA - Africa, Ltd. and its secret work for the British and United States governments prior to, and in the early years of, America’s entry into WWII. Over 1500 U.S. civilians, employees of Pan Am, went to Africa to fly transport aircraft, ferry war-planes, and establish air routes to Africa, Europe, and Asia battle-fronts. Their work was vital to Allied victories. A book signing will follow the lecture.
