This annual, winter running event started in December 2021 when a group of friends set out on a journey to honor a fellow UWEC alum, Corey James Hilber, who died by suicide in December of 2012.
The name, Positive Vector, is a nod to Corey’s enthusiasm for all things Math. A vector is a combination of magnitude and direction. The goal is to empower those doing great work in mental health, while providing an optimistic (positive) direction for our community. All proceeds are donated to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Chippewa Valley.
NAMI Chippewa Valley was founded in December of 2010 and is a nonprofit organization funded by memberships, donations and grants. The organization is affiliated through NAMI Wisconsin as the local NAMI affiliate for Eau Claire, Chippewa and Dunn counties. NAMI Chippewa Valley's mission is to provide education, support and advocacy for individuals living with mental illness and their families.
This running event is made possible by all of the community support. There are plenty of ways that volunteers can do to help out for SET UP, TAKE DOWN, and ALL ALONG THE COURSE.
