Oh yes, you read that correctly: It’s finally time for the Autumn Harvest Winery 2016 Fall Festival!
The annual festival is taking place this year on Saturday, September 10th and Sunday, September 11th from 10am-6pm at the Autumn Harvest Winery and Orchard in Chippewa Falls (19947 County Hwy J).
Autumn Harvest Winery and Orchard is a family business that has been around since 1924. Chad McIlquham and his wife, Jean, offer a wide variety of wines, cheeses, apples, and more, making this is the PERFECT place to kick off the month of September!
A portion of the proceeds from the festival is going to UW-Stout’s Fostering Success program. For those of you who haven’t heard of Fostering Success, this is a program that provides support to foster youth while they’re attending college. Some of the ways the program does this is by teaching these students valuable life skills, writing them references for scholarships and grants, and providing them with a fund for school supplies and other necessities.
In addition to the Fostering Success program, guests can check out Smith’s Pallet Creations & Designs. At this table, festival attendees can purchase one-of-a-kind items such as wine racks, coffee mug holders, and rustic pallet signs. The best part is that all of the proceeds from this stand will go towards their family's dream of having a baby and giving their son a sibling; clearly, it’s a win-win.
Food and Drinks
ATTENTION PIZZA LOVERS! Food vendors for the festival include Firewoods Traveling Pizzeria on Saturday and Tutto Bene Wood Fired Pizza on Sunday. Both vendors are planning to be there from 11am-5pm. (Pssst: Tutto Bene is the pizza joint that was at the Eaux Claires Music Festival this year!)
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Autumn Harvest celebration without delicious wine! Some of the wines that the winery offers are Harvest Moon (a sweet white wine), Fionnrua (a semi-sweet red wine), and Razz McTazz (their award-winning raspberry wine), among others.
Even if you’ve been to the Autumn Harvest Winery a million times (I understand, by the way—SUCH GOOD WINE), you should still come and check out all of the talented musicians that are playing this weekend! Jess McChesney is performing on Saturday from 11am-2pm, and Feeding Leroy is following him from 2:30pm-5:30pm. You can also catch music on Sunday, as Kaiged Acoustic is performing from 11am-2pm, and Randy Adams is playing from 2:30pm-5:30pm.
Moms and dads, I know what you’re thinking: What am I supposed to do with my kids? You’re in luck, though, because this is an event for the WHOLE family! While you’re sipping on (or chugging) free samples of wine, your children can enjoy a FREE corn maze and hayrides. You can also pick apples with them at the orchard and then hang out with the Visit Eau Claire Fun Patrol—we’ll be there Saturday from 12pm-2pm!
Can’t make it to the festival? Don’t worry; we have some good news for you! Just this past Tuesday, Autumn Harvest Winery and Orchard expanded its hours for the fall season. Until the end of October, the winery and orchard are now open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am-6pm so you have plenty of time to check ‘em both out!
So, what are you waiting for? Call up your friend, your hubby, your girlfriend, or whomever else you want to bring along for the ride; the Autumn Harvest Winery Fall Festival is the best way to jumpstart the fall!
