A little giving back is good for the soul.

One way to give back is through volunteer work. Here are four ways you can volunteer in Eau Claire in the coming months.

1. Turkey Trot: November 22nd

Thanksgiving is a day to spend with family catching up and enjoying a hearty meal. But before you enjoy all that good company and food, considering volunteering for the Turkey Trot. Now in its 11th year, the Turkey Trot is an annual event that raises money for the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club across the state of Wisconsin. The event features a 2-mile walk, 2-mile fun run, 2-mile dog jog and 5-mile run. Volunteers are needed to be course marshals, distribute bibs/shirts the day before and the morning of the event, to work the food tent at the end of the course, assist with registration and much more. It's a great way to kick off Thanksgiving.

2. Clearwater Winter Parade: November 30th

Parades are not just for the warm months. Once again this year, Eau Claire will host the Clearwater Winter Parade. Taking place on November 30th, the event kicks off at 6:30 PM with a fireworks show. The parade features great floats and live music. It's a fun kickoff to the winter holiday season. Volunteers are needed to be parade street marshals.

3. Light Up Eau Claire: December 31st

Light Up Eau Claire 2018

New Year's Eve is one of the most festive nights of the year. And Eau Claire has its own special event for the occasion: Light Up Eau Claire. The event features live music, fireworks, two lantern parades and a New Year's Eve Gala that lets you ring in the new year in style. Volunteers are needed to sell wristbands and coordinate parade traffic. As a bonus, volunteers receive a long sleeve shirt as well as well as a wristband to grant them access to the various music venues in the downtown area, as well as access to the Rockin' The Rooftop fireworks viewing party taking place on the North Barstow parking ramp.

4. Relay for Life of the Chippewa Valley: June 7th, 2019

June is months away, but often events take months to prepare, and that is just the case with the Relay for Life of the Chippewa Valley. Relay For Life raises money for the American Cancer Society.  Team/individual participants walk laps the night of the event, hold fundraising activities and celebrate survivors, caregivers and remember those who have been lost to cancer. The proceeds from the event fund groundbreaking cancer research as well as critical patient care programs and education/prevention information. Relay For Life needs volunteers for the day of the event to check in/register participants, set up for entertainment, run fundraising activities throughout the evening, assist with concessions, coordinate parking and much more. The event also needs volunteers for the planning committee to help get things ready to go well before the event. It's a fun night that also raises money for a great cause.

Whether you want to be a course marshal for the Turkey Trot, help with the Clearwater Winter Parade, raise money for the American Cancer Society at the Relay For Life of the Chippewa Valley or help with the Light Up Eau Claire event, Eau Claire has plenty of volunteer opportunities coming up. Find a way you want to give back and recruit your friends to make it an even more fun experience.
