Get swept into having so much fun in Eau Claire before spring semester starts.

If you're a student who is still in Eau Claire over J-Term, don't consider yourself "stuck" in the city. Consider yourself lucky! Get off Netflix and away from your couch and do some of these fun activities.

Give Back and Volunteer

Volunteer at places like Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley where they even offer internships for some students. Giving your time is always worth your time and you never know what you might learn about yourself by getting involved! Some students even change their degrees or future careers.

Spend a Day Playing Around at Action City

Reconnect with your inner kid. Action City right off I-94 boasts a great array of activities including indoor go-karts, laser tag, batting cages, a trampoline park, mini bowling, bumper cars, and many, many arcade games. Invite friends that are still around during J-term and have way too much fun!

Instagram Cool Nature Shots

Get outdoors and spice up your Instagram feed. Head out with your camera and set up at sites like Big Falls, Putnam Park, Mt. Simon, Dells Mill, or on one of the many historic bridges over the Chippewa River. You won't be disappointed by these beautiful locations in the winter months.

Stay Inside and Enjoy Some Drinks

If you're 21 or older, head over to the Leinenkugel's Brewery to learn all about (and taste) your favorite local beer. If you're not 21 but enjoy coffee and other fancy non-alcoholic drinks, the cafés in downtown Eau Claire offer great coffee and cozy atmospheres.

Tour Local Museums or Show Houses

Eau Claire is full of history, and whether or not you're a history major, you will enjoy learning a bit more about your college town's background. The Chippewa Valley Museum, Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts and Paul Bunyan Logging Camp are just a few of the local places to visit.

Go to the Gym

Keep up your New Year's fitness resolution by getting your gym time in. You'll have a harder time choosing which gym to go to than you will actually getting your workout done. Planet Fitness, Gold's Gym, FitELITE Crossfit, Anytime Fitness, and YMCA all have so much to offer and are just waiting for you to join.

Try an Escape Room

Have you heard of Escape Rooms? Eau Claire has its own, and you'd love it. Tactical Escape 101 and Escape EC are two local escape room businesses that are open weekdays and weekends for all your escape room enjoyment. This activity usually requires that you go with a certain number of people, sometimes as few as two in a group.

Visit the Library and Curl Up With a Book

Choose a newly released book for free from L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in town or at W.D. McIntyre Library on UWEC's campus.

Enjoy Dinner and a Movie

Enjoy a night out on the town. Downtown Eau Claire has many restaurants to offer, including bar food or ethnic food, and you can take a stroll down to Micon Downtown Cinema for super cheap theater tickets – general adult admission is $4 and $3 on Tuesdays.

Jam Out to a New Vinyl or CD from Revival Records

Are you into specific music but can't seem to find it on Pandora or Spotify? Search and purchase it for yourself at Revival Records. This store offers albums from way back when and newbies from just last week. Bring your new record to a party if you have a player.

Spend a Day at the Mall

A classic past-time, you can shop for things you need before the spring semester starts, grab lunch, and see a movie all at the Oakwood Mall. There are also many sit-down restaurants near the mall if you choose to eat somewhere besides the food court.

Get a Tattoo

Be a little crazy and get a tattoo! There isn't a shortage of places to choose from when looking to get a tattoo in Eau Claire. Wintership Tattoo downtown boasts a high rating, as well as A Brand New Tattoo, Midwest Tattoo, and Krueger Tattoo Studio. There are many others, so check Google and make an appointment today.
