On Friday, July 11 the U.S. Championship will host the inaugural Kid Kubb (U.S. Junior Kubb Championship), which is a tournament open to kids age 12 and younger.

This tournament - the largest of its kind outside of Europe and one of the five largest in the world - will feature 315 players on 88 teams.  The U.S. Championship will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday with round robin matches, and the playoff rounds will start at 1:00 p.m. Following Saturday’s competition, there will be an “After-Kubb” event at The Fire House in downtown Eau Claire. The final eight teams return on Sunday with quarterfinalist action beginning at 9 a.m.  It is anticipated that the Final championship game will start at approximately 11 a.m.

The yard game, kubb, was born in Sweden and is played throughout Europe. Played primarily in the Nordic countries, kubb can now be found around the world with tournaments in Europe and in the U.S.A.

This is a free, spectator friendly event and will also feature food, music, and entertainment.  The estimated economic impact on the Eau Claire Area from the U.S. National Kubb Championship is $156, 600.
