City of Altoona - River Prairie Sculpture Project Request for Proposals

The City of Altoona is accepting proposals from artists/sculptors interested in creating up to four sculptures which will be placed within the River Prairie Park. The proposed sculptures will be mounted upon existing pedestals which are located within the River Prairie Park at the headwaters of Prairie Creek. The sculptures will be highly visible within the park space to both pedestrian and automobile traffic and will be a primary focal point within the park.

The opportunity to apply for this project is open to professional artists residing in Wisconsin and Minnesota or with a direct tie to the Chippewa Valley in some other manner. Preference will be given to artists from the Chippewa Valley.

The City of Altoona will assemble a team to evaluate the proposals and will invite a short list of artists for interviews. A tour of the art installation site will be held on Thursday, July 20th at 2:00pm. All interested artists are highly encouraged to attend. Please meet at the River Prairie Center, located at 1445 Front Porch Place in River Prairie, at 2pm on the 20th if interested in this tour. Site visits may also be available by reservation, depending upon staff availability.

If you have any questions, please contact Altoona City Hall at cityhall@ci.altoona.wi.us or 715- 839-6092.
