LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO CELEBRATE NEW YEAR’S EVE AT THE INAUGURAL ‘LIGHT UP EAU CLAIRE’

Visit Eau Claire, along with the Children’s Museum, the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, The Lismore Hotel, and downtown music venues, will join together to light the streets of downtown Eau Claire this New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31st.

RCU to be presenting sponsor for inaugural event

Visit Eau Claire is excited to announce the inaugural Light Up Eau Claire, presented by Royal Credit Union. The event will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 31 in downtown Eau Claire and end on Sunday, January 1 around 1:30 a.m. Much of the event is free and open to the public. Light Up Eau Claire is a project of the Visit Eau Claire Cultural Tourism Committee, which strives to link residents’ “Quality of Life” with visitors’ “Quality of Experience”.

The event will feature activities for families and kids such as the Little Lantern Parade and the We-Bop Family Jazz Party at the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire. Originating from NYC’s Lincoln Center, this WeBop Family Jazz Party will feature the talents of local musicians Tim Sullivan, Jeremy Boettcher, Sean Carey and Josh Gallagher. Adults will also find festivities throughout the night that will brighten up the city, as well as their souls, including live music throughout the participating downtown venues.  This New Year’s Eve will go down in history!

For only $15, the attendees will be able to make their own lantern to carry during the New Year’s Eve parade, helping us truly light up Eau Claire. Those who want to be a part of lighting up the city during the parade but are not able to attend any of the workshops can find a link to an instructional lantern-making video at LightUpEauClaire.com.

VOLUNTEERS WELCOME

The Visit Eau Claire team is looking for 40 volunteers to assist in the logistics of the inaugural Light Up Eau Claire.  Volunteers are needed throughout the night at each venue for a couple of hours.  The volunteers will be helping out with selling wristbands at the Eau Claire-Stream, lining up barricades for the Little Lantern Parade or the Lismore Lantern Parade or checking wristbands at the various downtown music venues.  All volunteers will receive a FREE pin and both a venue and fireworks-viewing tent wristband!

Event attendees will be encouraged to use #LightUpEC17 and #CaptureEC to share photos, ask Visit Eau Claire questions about the event, and connect with other event attendees.
