Nineteen representatives of Eau Claire jumped up and down, hugged and cheered Sunday night half way around the country when Eau Claire was named one of America's best cities.
The group, which included members of Leadership Eau Claire, Visit Eau Claire and city officials, traveled to Denver, Colo., Friday through Sunday for the National Civic League's All-American City Awards and brought home the title listing Eau Claire as one of ten winners nationwide.
"It is a great honor," Kerry Kincaid, City Council president, said. "It means every business, every nonprofit, every public department can now say that as their tagline to build pride or spark energy."
According to the National Civic League's website, cities were chosen as winners if they demonstrated "innovation, inclusiveness, civic engagement, and cross-sector collaboration."
