Success Stories:

WHAT: FLW Outdoors Walleye League Finals

September 16-19, 2009

The Walleye League Championship Tournament is the culmination of a twelve tournament qualifying series that runs April-August. The first two days of competition, all anglers and co-anglers fish the lake and hold a weigh-in at the tournament HQ location. The third day features only the top 10 teams from the previous days and weigh-in is held at the local Wal-Mart (official tournament sponsor). All teams are required to register in person and attend a pre-tournament meeting held the evening prior to the first day of competition.

WHERE: Chippewa Falls Rod & Gun Club, Lake Wissota

This tournament required several things, including;

  • A lake large enough for 100-150 boats
  • A marina with space for 10-20 boats to dock at a time
  • A flat area large enough for the weigh-in trailer and stage
  • A space for a pre-tournament meeting for up to 350 people
  • Parking for 100-150 boats and trailers and up to 100 cars from spectators with shuttle service
  • A police escort from the lake to Wal-Mart for the final 10 boats

SUCCESS!

"We had a blast while we were at Lake Wissota and the hospitality was absolutely second to none. I cannot begin to express how much we enjoyed our stay and we had an absolutely fantastic tournament. I heard no negativity from the anglers about the event.... They had a blast and it was truly a championship event, there were no "gimme's." The guys had to work it out and it wasn't won with one lucky bite, which was a good thing!"

"We cannot thank Michael Strubel of Visit Eau Claire...and the Rod and Gun Club being the host that organizers dream about! The assistance that was given by the CVB was unstopping and was one of the key elements that made our event a great event."

Sonny Reynolds - Director of Walleye Operations

WHAT: Chippewa Valley Outdoor Games, Dock Dog Event

August 10-12, 2007

The Chippewa Valley Outdoor Games featured outdoor events and expositions with the primary purpose of bringing both the novice and experienced outdoor sports enthusiast together in celebration of the great outdoors in Wisconsin. The WI Dock Dogs hosted a Dock Dog competition as part of the games which served as a qualifier for national competition.

WHERE: Eau Claire Rod & Gun Club, Eau Claire

This event required several things, including;

  • Space for 200-300 dogs and their owners
  • Parking for up to 5,000 spectators per day at the event
  • Filling and emptying 25,000 gallons of water from the competition pool
  • Bleachers for spectators

SUCCESS!

"This event was by far the best event we (The Wisconsin Dock Dogs) have ever done. The community was great, the event staff was great, and the hosts of the Rod & Gun Club were great as well! Anything we needed, it was done. With assistance like this it makes our coming in and doing an event so much easier. We had a big attendance by competitors and we look forward to an even bigger turn out next year. The retrieval trials were also a big hit with our competitors and they worked so well with us in getting our competitors through it so that they could also make it in time for the Dock Dogs event. First Class all around in our books!"
