EXPLORE

Hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, walking, rollerblading, sightseeing, fishing; we’ve got it all! Here, you’ll find the best kept secrets of Eau Claire in the forms of trails, fishing holes, sunset views and geocaching extravaganzas. Whether you’ve heard of Eau Claire as the “City of Bridges” and want to know where they all are or you’re looking for the coolest views of the city, the adventures await you here!

Eau Claire is known to locals as “The City of Bridges” and it’s easy to see why! Many of Eau Claire’s recognizable and frequently walked pedestrian bridges are connected by the Chippewa River State Trail. The trail is popular for walkers, bikers, rollerbladers and runners, and displays unique and memorable views of the Chippewa River. No two bridges in Eau Claire are alike and as the river changes throughout the year, so too do the views and experiences of each Eau Claire bridge.

Escape the city to experience nature and history! The drive out to this 150 year-old landmark, located just 20 miles east of Eau Claire, is worth the trip in and of itself. With vibrant greens in the spring and breath-taking autumn colors in the fall, locals feel as though they could drive those country roads for hours. A short path off of the side of the road leads you to stunning views of Dells Mill Pond as well as the 150 year-old building that gives the pond a name.

One of the best views in Eau Claire is also one of the most top-secret. Although the hike is short, the panoramic view of Eau Claire makes you feel as though you can see endlessly. Known by locals as “The Top of the World,” this majestic spot on Mt. Simon is loved by many. Past the rock formation are more trails that connect to Mt. Simon Park trails, allowing for continued adventure through the park.

If you want to escape the city, but don’t want to travel far, Tower Ridge is the place for you (and your dog...and your horse)! Less than a 20 minute drive from Downtown Eau Claire, Tower Ridge’s wide, grassy trails take you deep into the woods, where you can find even more hidden trails. The entire trail system is conveniently mapped out for you along the way so you can always find your way back to the chalet and parking area. There are approximately 12 miles of trails and along the walk, there is no shortage of beautiful, colorful plants. Along with awesome trails for humans, dogs AND horses, Tower Ridge provides a fantastic and widely popular disc golf course, as well as cross country ski and snowshoeing trails in the winter.
