T.G.I. Friday's began in New York City in March of 1965. Alan Stillman, the proprietor, wanted to bring food and beverage together for the purpose of meeting other career-oriented singles. Distinguished by its signature red and white awnings and Tiffany lamps, T.G.I. Friday's quickly became "the meeting place" for single adults. In 1975, Carlson Companies acquired T.G.I. Friday's, and the restaurants began spreading throughout the United States. Today, there are more than 824 T.G.I. Friday's worldwide. T.G.I. Friday's is easily recognized by its red and white stripes, outstanding food and beverages, great service, and relaxing atmosphere.
