Live Music, Dinner & an Overnight!

Hello again.

Every now and then the hectic pace we keep in our lives prevents us from really taking the time to stay in touch with our spouse or partner. Holiday time can do that to you, too.  It’s no different for us and luckily we found ourselves with a bit of a break just before it all hit this year.  So we decided to get away for a night and spend some time on just the two of us.

We booked a room at America’s Best Value Inn off Clairemont  Avenue and decide that the car would stay parked right where it was. After settling in to a very clean and comfortable room, we stayed right indoors and walked down to O’Leary’s pub for a quick drink.  The place was starting to gather people and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and it was happy hour, too. Plus, there was a live band scheduled for later in the evening, so we knew we had a place to unwind. By then we were hungry and as luck would have it, we could walk right over to Mancino’s Grinders and Pizza for a very nice and filling meal. After that, we headed back and took advantage of one of the two pools (we chose the Indoor one!) you’ll find at America’s Best Value Inn. We had it and a great hot tub all to ourselves.  After a nice relaxing time it was back to O’Leary’s to listen to the live music and complete our evening with a night cap. By now the place was really hopping and we could barely find room to squeeze in. When it was time to leave, it was really nice to have not had to decide who would have to remain available to drive. Staying right there had its advantages.

Sometimes we have to remember that we can find a romantic getaway right here in our own backyard. We really don’t have to leave the Chippewa Valley…we just need to find something to do, and do it together.  Go ahead and make your own romance – right here at home.  Happy New Years to you all.
