Summer Fun

It's been awhile since I last wrote... I have been keeping really busy this summer and have a lot to write about!  My sister was home from Texas visiting, so I spent some time with my mom and my sister, which, to me, is the perfect girl's getaway!  We did a little bit of everything... shopping, eating, drinking and more shopping!

On this particular day we spent our time downtown checking out the shops and a few new places that have opened since my sister moved to Texas.  We had lunch at Harmony Corner Cafe, which is a new restaurant that just recently opened.  They have a really nice, casual atmosphere and great food.  I had the chicken salad croissant and chai tea and they were both so good!  My mom and sister had the Harmony Corner Salad and Harmony Corner Panini, respectively.  And while I didn't try either, they both said they were excellent!

After lunch we took our drinks to go and wandered around downtown, people watching and window shopping.  A favorite store of mine is Cadeaux Gift Shop, so we spent some time there checking out the cool merchandise.

Shopping definitely makes a girl thirsty, so we went to Stella's Red Room and a had a glass of wine on the patio before walking across the street to Phoenix Park for the Volume One Sounds Like Summer Concert Series.  Phoenix Park has a great outdoor concert area right on the Chippewa River, it is an awesome location to watch the sunset and take in some great local music.  It was a beautiful day and the company was great... what a wonderful way to spend a summer day in Eau Claire.

Hello there. I'm a blogger who is one of the founders of a Midwestern blogging event. This will be our second year. We're looking around Wisconsin for a place that's a bit lodge-like big enough to fit 20-30 overnight guests...is this possible? :) We're open to hotels, condos, rentable houses, etc...but hotels only if we're able to use some kind of group meeting space with no extra charge. We're bloggers, wherever we stay will get a load of exposure via our sites, so we're always willing to work out deals based on that advertising. Many of the bloggers involved are influential in the online community and have very large readerships. Thoughts? Thank you!

I live in the hills south of Eau Claire with my wife, Ruth, my son, Taylor and our two cats, Marie and Louise. We are all active in road and mountain biking, skiing and snow shoeing. Taylor and I race our bikes in the WiSport and WORS races throughout the spring, summer and fall.
