A Romantic Sleigh Ride

Hi Travelers!

If you're looking to do something unique, quiet and romantic in the Chippewa Valley, read on.  Jane and I recently took a wonderful evening ride through old forests on a horse drawn sleigh.  How romantic is that!  The folks at
Cabin Ridge Rides have a very special treat in store for you when you book a trail ride on their property.

We arrived just as the sun was setting and got a close look at a beautiful pair of draft horses hitched to an antique sleigh.  We climbed on board and our driver, Rusty, handed us some extra blankets to keep us warm on our hour-long ride.  When we were all set, our horsepower, Jim and Charley, set off at a leisurely pace and Rusty began to tell us the history of the land we were on.  It's been in his family for many, many years and they've been giving rides to friends, family and finally visitors ever since.

We saw deer, hundreds of turkey tracks and what looked like fox tracks in the snow.  Rusty tells us that he often sees owls as well.  We had a great time just getting away from all the hassles of the day and could really imagine what life must have been like when horses were the only way to get around.

The snow is perfect for rides right now... in fact, the best it's been in years, according to Rusty.  And when spring comes, they simply switch over to wheeled wagons and the rides continue.  Groups can have picnics or even larger groups and weddings take advantage of the full-size cabin facility built back in the woods.

If you're planning on being in the area for a couple of days, we highly recommend checking out
Cabin Ridge Rides for an experience you won't soon forget. (and a romantic one too!)
