September will be an exciting month for local artists of all kinds. On Saturday, September 19th the Chippewa Valley Symphony will present their annual fall pops concert, featuring favorites from Broadway and the movies. The highlight of this concert, however, is sure to be “Current of Change.” Back by popular demand, this piece was created by local composer (and music teacher!) Dennis Luginbill. Read a review of “Current of Change” here. After the Symphony puts their music stands away, the stage of the State Theater will be taken over by twenty local visual artists in the second installment of liveART. From 5-10pm on Friday September 25th, visual artists working in all media - from painting and printmaking to ceramics and metalsmithing - will come together to create one-of-a-kind, finished works of art before the public's eyes. Every piece of art can be bid on and purchased via a silent auction running throughout the evening while the art is being created! It’s a very fun evening and a rare opportunity to see artists in action. For more, visit www.eauclairearts.com. Now is also the time of year that the students return to campus, and with them comes live music. The Cabin is a small venue located on campus in the Davies Center and hosts weekly performances, many featuring local musicians. Be sure to keep an eye on the schedule. The line-up never fails to impress. As the fall season of performances starts moving in full force, I would recommend following the calendar at volumeone.org for a complete listing off all things cultural and entertaining. Thanks for reading and we’ll see you at the show!
