Peaceful Romance

Peaceful.

We really could use a dozen other words to describe our visit to the Barn Again Lodge.  Relaxing.  Solitude.  Quiet. Remote.  But peaceful seems to sum it up best.  Tucked away in a hidden valley just south of Mondovi, The Barn Again Lodge and Honeymoon Bungalow is truly a place of peace.  Walk the trails and let the sounds of nature overtake you or just sit on the quiet porch and feel the tension from your hectic lives drift away.  Revel in the simpleness that the country has to offer.

On our recent visit, we enjoyed a relaxing overnight stay in the charming Honeymoon Bungalow, a one-room cottage set apart from the other buildings on the property.  Very quiet and secluded, the bungalow feels a bit like a northwoods cabin or maybe something straight from Laura Ingalls Wilder's days.  A full size bed, couch, microwave and mini fridge, plus a modern bathroom/shower let you enjoy modern comforts in the illusion of the past.

The other lodging facility on the property is The Lodge - a beautifully restored barn that has been converted into a large, open gathering space, full kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and an open loft.  All told, 17 people can be accommodated overnight.  This would be a wonderful and especially comfortable place for a family reunion, wedding reception, girl's weekend or corporate training getaway.

During our stay in the Bungalow, the Lodge was not in use, leaving us as the only people in the middle of more than 100 acres of rolling hills and forests.  Romantic to say the least!  We felt like the only people on earth.

If you long to get back to the country or want to experience it for the first time, we can't think of a better place for a special getaway - whether it is just the two of you or a larger group - than the Barn Again Lodge.  See details and photos at www.barnagainlodge.com or give Mel a call at (715) 946.3443.  She is a delightful host and will accommodate whatever arrangements you need for your group.

Enjoy your romance!

I live in the hills south of Eau Claire with my wife, Ruth, my son, Taylor and our two cats, Marie and Louise. We are all active in road and mountain biking, skiing and snow shoeing. Taylor and I race our bikes in the WiSport and WORS races throughout the spring, summer and fall.
