Look at that sunshine! If you haven't already been out on the trails, you need to seize the day! We have been blessed with some very beautiful weather...hopefully writing about it won't jinx it! My kids have been riding to school - I guess the chilly morning ride is well worth it when you ride home in 50 degree plus sunshine!
There are many exciting events starting to crop up in the region. Many of you may be aware of the great mountain biking trails that exist here. Lowes Creek has trails that are so good the local mountain biking group, CORBA, www.chippewaoffroad.org, has been able to entice a whole lot of people to come to the area and race in a WORS series mountain bike race out at the park. Pretty impressive for a bunch of volunteers! 800-900 racers showed up last year to be part of the Firecracker Mountain Bike Race---this year's race is July 11, 2010 and if you don't feel like riding, why not volunteer to help out? I have decided that I'm going out to try the easy trails this summer. I'm not much of a "challenge the body at all times" kind of rider-I do prefer nice, black topped trails, but the kids love it, so I either need to try it or be willing to stay home and do the chores. I'll keep you posted.
Another type of race is also coming to the region---and The Nature Valley Grand Prix Bicycle Festival is coming to Menomonie! Menomonie is on the circuit and hosting a road race. And they are turning the event into a family festival-there will be stunt riders, interactive games, live music, food tents, tour de kids tents, a lifestyle expo and more....the Menomonie race is June 19 and this is a chance for amateurs to have a professional racing experience. Even if you don't want to race in it, the day's events look like a great way to spend a Saturday in June! More information can be found at www.minnbikefestival.com.
What a great place to live!
