June was a great month for area events, especially to enjoy with friends! The Eau Claire Open Air Festival of the Arts was held on June 11-12 at Phoenix Park in downtown Eau Claire. I had the opportunity to attend the event on Sunday with one of my best friends. The weather was beautiful, not too hot or too cold… just right! The event features two days of art, entertainment and food – with something for everyone. There are jewelry vendors, pottery, painting, sculpture, clothing and so much more. The food selections were great; while I didn’t have anything to eat I did enjoy a lemonade from a vendor whose trailer is a giant lemon – I loved it and the lemonade!
After wondering around each vendor booth and making a few purchases, we went to the outside amphitheater area to watch the live music. My friend’s brother’s band was playing, so we found a great spot in the grass and listened to the music… all with a view of the river and the kids dancing and hula-hooping. Phoenix Park’s outdoor amphitheater is perfect! It is right along the banks of the Chippewa River and has green, sloping hills and large rocks that are perfect seats.
It was a beautiful day to enjoy all of the local flavor that the Eau Claire area has to offer – art, entertainment, food and a great venue!
