Well here we are at the end of June and most of our outdoor plans got put on hold due to indoor projects. We did get out for daily walks or bike rides, but have yet to get out on the water. Working on that for this weekend.
With the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend there are many opportunities in the area for getting out to enjoy the outdoors. Eau Claire will have activities going on all day at Carson Park on the 4th. Miniature train rides, music, and family activities will be going on all day with the fireworks display beginning at 10 p.m. Sounds like a great place for a picnic or gathering with family and friends. Altoona and Menomonie also have many events planned for the day.
This weather is great for taking a float down the Chippewa River in an inner tube, canoe or kayak. You could also go for a swim at one of the local beaches (Altoona, Coon Fork Park, Big Falls) or spend the day at the Fairfax pool to keep cool.
There is no lack of outdoor fun in July. There are the local music festivals (Country Jam and Rock Fest), the concerts in Phoenix Park on Thursdays, and Owen Park on Tuesdays. The Farmer's Market is back in full swing. When you are downtown you could check out the sculpture tour. And don't forget the sporting events to numerous to mention. Check out visiteauclaire.com for other upcoming events.
Get outside and enjoy July!
