I've enjoyed and participated in the arts scene of Eau Claire for quite some time.

October 01, 2009

October has been declared National Arts and Humanities Month by the Americans for the Arts, and we here in the Chippewa Valley will be celebrating in style!

September will be an exciting month for local artists of all kinds.

On Saturday, September 19th the Chippewa Valley Symphony will present their annual fall pops concert, featuring favorites from Broadway and the movies.  The highlight of this concert, however, is sure to be “Current of Change.”  Back by popular demand, this piece was created by local composer (and music teacher!) Dennis Luginbill.  Read a review of “Current of Change” here.

Ahh, summertime…when Eau Claire breaks free of the winter shackles and floods the parks with concerts galore!  Here’s a rundown.

On Monday nights, grab a blanket and take a stroll down to the UWEC Campus for Music on the Mall.  Acts range from folk to blues to some very talented singer songwriters.  Get the complete line up at www.uwec.edu/centers/community/summer/musicMall.htm).

I live in the hills south of Eau Claire with my wife, Ruth, my son, Taylor and our two cats, Marie and Louise. We are all active in road and mountain biking, skiing and snow shoeing. Taylor and I race our bikes in the WiSport and WORS races throughout the spring, summer and fall.
