June was a great month for area events, especially to enjoy with friends! The Eau Claire Open Air Festival of the Arts was held on June 11-12 at Phoenix Park in downtown Eau Claire.

May was a busy month for me… but I still managed to enjoy an evening out with some of my favorite girlfriends – my fellow dance teachers! Our end of the year Spring Dance Show was held on a Saturday afternoon and by Saturday evening we were ready to unwind with dinner and a few cocktails!

March is my favorite month… not only do we get a glimpse of Spring weather, but it is my birthday month! March 17 to be exact – that’s right, I am a St. Patrick’s Day baby!

This month I had the opportunity to attend an event that unfortunately I missed last year; The Banbury Art Crawl. Thankfully, the event was such a success in 2010 that they brought it back again in 2011!

What a whirlwind! 2011 has barely started and it has already been such a busy year! I was able to enjoy a Sunday afternoon with my favorite ladies; my mom, grandma, aunt and cousin.

Check out this great blog post by Wisconsin Blogger Julie Henning. She wrote an article about scrapbooking in the Midwest and our very own White's Wildwood Retreat is featured!

This time of year is always so busy… what with the beginning of the holiday season and, for me, the beginning of dance team competition season (I am a teacher at Danz Kraze in Eau Claire). I always welcome time with my girlfriends as a way to relax from all of the craziness this time of year brings!

We do an annual Girl’s Getaway and this year, Eau Claire was our point of destination. Due to Eau Claire’s close proximity to the Twin Cities it was a great location for a relaxing fall weekend.

October girl’s night was awesome fun… Eau Claire now has Roller Derby! The Chippewa Valley Roller Girls had their first bout on Saturday, October 22nd at the Eau Claire Indoor Sports Center. A few girlfriends and I decided we had to go… and it was a great decision!

I didn’t have a lot of spare time this month to spend with friends, as I’ve been keeping busy with work and teaching dance at Danz Kraze.

I can’t believe that summer is almost over… it just goes by so fast! It’s hard to find time to enjoy all the great stuff that the area has to offer, but I was able to make a day of it last weekend with a few friends.

It's been awhile since I last wrote... I have been keeping really busy this summer and have a lot to write about! My sister was home from Texas visiting, so I spent some time with my mom and my sister, which, to me, is the perfect girl's getaway! We did a little bit of everything... shopping, eating, drinking and more shopping!
March 26, 2010
This month a friend and I decided to do something a little bit different then what we normally do… we decided to go do dinner and the theatre.
February 16, 2010
It has been a long time since I have had time for a fun weekend getaway with my friends. Not only are the holidays jam packed, but I also coach an area junior varsity dance team... and with games and/or competitions every weekend from November through February, it is hard to find time to get together with the girls.

What a perfect day to do some shopping! I met the girls downtown for lunch at The Acoustic Café. They have great sandwiches and soup… the coffee’s pretty awesome too! It was a pretty busy afternoon, but we managed to get a table by one of the windows and were able to people watch while we ate lunch. After lunch we decided to check out some of the stores downtown… and there are definitely a lot of them.

This past Friday night some friends and I hit the town for a night of cocktails and dancing. First we went to The Livery, which is a new bar/restaurant in downtown Eau Claire, also known as the Cowtown Saloon.

On a recent night out, a friend and I hit up the Water Street area. Historic Water Street is known for its bars, shops and restaurants. We had dinner at Mona Lisa’s, a Mediterranean restaurant with a great atmosphere and an even better drink menu! It is a casual place, with a lot of cool artwork and an indoor fireplace.

Eau Claire is a great place for the girls to get together and have a fun night out! While we are quickly approaching 30, I think someone forgot to tell my friends and me that we are now grownups! When we get together, we love to talk, laugh (a lot), dance, eat great food, and have a few cocktails. Eau Claire has many places to choose from, whether you are looking to have a relaxing night and conversation or live music and dancing.

The music and arts scene in the Eau Claire Area is alive and well, and from live local theater to mainstream national acts, I can’t get enough of it! I enjoy all aspects of the cultural arts from performing to watching, and hope to bring it alive for you in the Visit Eau Claire Music and Arts blog.

I live in the hills south of Eau Claire with my wife, Ruth, my son, Taylor and our two cats, Marie and Louise. We are all active in road and mountain biking, skiing and snow shoeing. Taylor and I race our bikes in the WiSport and WORS races throughout the spring, summer and fall.
